The first highlight of London… The Vaults. A local turned us onto this venue, mentioning it would provide a fun atmosphere to watch some of the FIFA World Cup matches. Man was he right!
Getting to the entrance is a bit eerie and interesting, but don’t let this stop you from enjoying this magic spot. Located under Waterloo Station, you access the entrance from a dark tunnel, home to many graffiti artists. Continue down the tunnel to find a hallway lit with red lights. You have arrived…
The Vaults were used as office space in the 70’s, now it is the permanent home to a pop up gallery, theatre room, and event space. It is a series of 8 arched rooms that each house a pocket of magic. While we visited, there was a pop up gallery of graffiti artwork, concerts, games and the theatre room was set up with a bar and bracket for the World Cup matches. We joined locals in the theatre room to watch Argentina vs. Switzerland as well as cheer on Team USA against Belgium. If only the rest of the team showed up to help out Howard prior to heading into overtime. Maybe next time Team USA!
